Notice of Ancillary Receivership (Liquidation)
Effective July 20, 2015, National Insurance Company (“NIC”) was ordered into ancillary receivership for purposes of liquidation by the Second Judicial Circuit Court in Leon County, Florida. The Florida Department of Financial Services, Division of Rehabilitation and Liquidation, is the court appointed Ancillary Receiver of NIC.
NIC was a foreign insurer domiciled in the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico authorized to transact the business of insurance in Puerto Rico and the State of Florida. On May 17, 2011, NIC was placed into rehabilitation by the Commissioner of Insurance of Puerto Rico and ordered into liquidation on October 25, 2011. The Puerto Rico Insurance Commissioner appointed Fernando L. Carbonell as the Auxiliary Liquidator of NIC. The Auxiliary Liquidator contacted claimants informing them of the requirement to file a proof of claim form in the liquidation proceeding in Puerto Rico on or before January 25, 2012.
The Florida Insurance Guaranty Association ("FIGA") was previously activated by the liquidation in Puerto Rico to help pay outstanding Florida claims for property and casualty policies. The deadline for settling a claim or filing suit against FIGA was January 25, 2013. The Ancillary Receivership order entered in Florida on July 20, 2015, did not change any of the FIGA related deadlines.

ESTATE CLOSED
On June 13, 2016, the Order Approving Ancillary Receiver’s Discharge Accounting Statement, Authorizing Disbursement to FIGA, and Directing Final Discharge was entered. The Ancillary Receiver was discharged from any and all duties, obligations, and liabilities in administration of the National Insurance Company estate as of 11:59 P.M. on June 16, 2016.
