Consumers, Licensees, and Applicants should visit our website to:

  • Read and view consumer help information and consumer videos to ensure that you are adequately informed before purchasing preneed funeral or burial goods or services

  • File a complaint against a deathcare industry licensee

The Division of Funeral, Cemetery, and Consumer Services protects death care industry consumers purchasing preneed burial rights as well as those purchasing funeral and burial merchandise or services.  It also oversees licensed establishments, facilities, and cemetery grounds by conducting annual inspections.

The Division has established qualifications for professions and occupations in the death care industry. These professions and occupations include but are not limited to funeral directing, embalming, preneed sales and monument sales. Furthermore, the Division ensures death care professionals maintain their qualifications through continuing education courses and licensure renewal. Lastly, The Division ensures effective discipline for those licensees who have violated the law.

The death of a loved one is a traumatic event and often forces families to make funeral and burial decisions quickly. By visiting this website, consumers will be able to learn more about the industry and will then be able to make more informed choices that best fit their needs during this difficult time.

Mission Statement

Our mission is to license qualified professionals and entities in the death care industry, regulate the activities of those licensees, provide timely and accurate information regarding the death care industry, and continually improve the efficiency and effectiveness of our internal processes. In this way, the Division delivers value to the citizens of Florida and protects death care industry consumers during times of potential significant emotional distress.
