CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. – Today, Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Jimmy Patronis announced the arrest of Angela Augustine, an insurance claims adjuster, for allegedly conducting an $11.6 million automobile insurance fraud scheme. Using access to auto insurance claims, Augustine allegedly reopened numerous claims and issued settlement checks to approximately 326 alleged co-conspirators.

MIAMI, Fla. – Today, Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Jimmy Patronis announced the arrest of four subjects, identified as two licensed public adjusters, one individual posing as a public adjuster, and one mold remediation company owner, for allegedly filing multiple fraudulent insurance claims with Citizens Property Insurance Corporation (CITIZENS) to attempt to defraud a 94-year-old homeowner out of more than $57,000.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Today, Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Jimmy Patronis announced the victory in a potential class-action lawsuit, which sought to cast the state’s unclaimed property system as an unconstitutional taking. The lawsuit alleged that the state should pay interest or other compensation to claimants in addition to any unclaimed funds claimants are entitled to under state law. Since the CFO took office in 2017, more than $2 billion has been returned in unclaimed property to Florida citizens.
