The Baby Formula Shortage is a Fiasco
This week, I joined Fox Business to discuss the current baby formula shortage impacting American families and parents across Florida. As a father of two boys, I know the stress parents are under and not being able to buy formula from a grocery store is the last thing that a parent of a young child should have to worry about. This just simply doesn’t happen in America. This shortage is a fiasco on every level and the White House needs to step up for parents.

On Wednesday, I issued a letter to the Florida Bar encouraging them to hold attorneys accountable for unscrupulous activities involving property insurance lawsuits and the use of Assignment of Benefits (AOB). At best, they are gaming the system to make a profit. At worst, they are breaking the law. Either way they should all be disbarred. Also, they should know that detectives within my Department are working very hard to send them to jail.
This week, I warned Floridians of "trigger leads," which is when Credit Bureaus sell off lists of data on consumers who have credit characteristics that the lender may desire to target. My top priority is to make sure that Florida consumers are protected, and this business model of selling their information without consent cannot stand.
Finally, I would like to take a moment to highlight EMS week, and to celebrate all the brave men and women who serve in our state. Many of these EMS professionals are firefighters, and I have seen firsthand, the selfless acts of bravery that they commit daily. Florida’s First Responders are always the first to rise to the challenge to save lives, and we must never take that for granted. To all our fire service members with EMS training, we salute and thank you for your service!
