Florida Rejects Woke Banking
This week, I was proud to announce that 117 banks in Florida signed the attestation agreeing not to politically discriminate. With the continued rise of Environmental and Social Governances (ESG) infiltrating our economic institutions, I am very happy to see that these banks have officially made a commitment to put returns over politics. They understand that if they de-bank customers overt political persuasion, they are threatening their own bottom lines. Since this law has gone into effect, we've had banks approach us to say that they reject woke-ism, and that they are ready to step up if a bank falls short of its commitment to Florida. I am proud that we now have safeguards like this that will allow Floridians to do what they want with their hard-earned cash, without having to worry about a sudden denial or cancellation of services.

On Thursday, I issued a Senate Bill 460, which among many things would recruit students to trades, such as construction and would lower the age requirements for those who wish to work in construction-type jobs. I've been in business my entire life and there is nothing more empowering than when a young man or women gets a check that they earn for their hard work. In my opinion, this is a perfect opportunity for students to receive hands on training and explore different trades, such as construction, while earning high school course credit. I believe that this legislation will work to help students identify their career goals much earlier in life and set them up for future success.
Lastly, following the impacts of the powerful storm and tornados that hit the Florida Panhandle last week, I highlighted the work being done at the Disaster Resource Center (DRC), and encouraged all who were affected by the storm to utilize them. As Panhandle residents are recovering from this devastating storm, my office is ready to assist consumers with insurance questions and concerns. Recovering is not easy, but we are here to help. Unfortunately, we know too well that after a disaster hits, we see bad actors looking to make a quick buck. Always verify the license of contractors prior to hiring them to ensure they area registered to conduct business in Florida and beware of offers for post-storm repairs or services that require a cash payment.
Sincerely,

It was an honor to welcome @FLHSMV Trooper Steven Turner of Pasco County and his family to the Florida Capitol today. Trooper Turner was wounded in the line of duty while pursuing burglars fleeing the scene. Thank you for your service to our state! #FlaPol pic.twitter.com/7diJdCgr4V
