The Florida Tax Advocate Will Protect Floridians

Mar 15, 2024, 10:44 by Chip Beal

This week, I joined WKMG News Channel 6 to discuss the new Florida Tax Advocate position. I am a firm believer that our government should not be in the business of intimidating people. It should be in the business of helping people understand what the laws are and giving them guidance, so that we all live within those laws. What we have fought for during this previous session, is the ability to a appoint a federal tax liaison who will be able to help taxpayers navigate any and all confusion, such as answering questions, directing them to the correct departments, and helping them to resolve any other tax related issues.

Secondly, I was happy to write an Op-Ed on how since Governor DeSantis has taken office, life has gotten complicated for the Florida haters. Life is good in the sunshine state, and we have the answers to help others. Read my full Op-Ed HERE!

This week, I'm opening the vault and looking for Floridians with "St. Patrick's Day-themed names" and urging them to search Florida's Unclaimed Property database. Currently, Florida has more than $28 million in unclaimed property for Floridians with names including words like Green, Lucky, Gold and more. Treat yourself this St. Patrick's Day to some extra cash and search now at FLTreasureHunt.gov
