Chief Financial Officer Blaise Ingoglia Announces Over $470 Million in 2025-2026 Miami-Dade County Budget as “Excessive, Wasteful Spending”

6/11/2026

MIAMI- Today, Chief Financial Officer Blaise Ingoglia announced over $470 million in the 2025-2026 Miami-Dade County budget as “excessive, wasteful spending.” Last year, CFO Ingoglia identified over $302 million in excessive spending in Miami-Dade County’s General Fund Budget. CFO Ingoglia is urging the county to remove excessive spending from the budget entirely and offer meaningful tax relief to Miami-Dade residents.

Chief Financial Officer Blaise Ingoglia said, “In Fiscal Year 2025-2026 alone, Miami-Dade County excessively and wastefully spent $470 million in taxpayer funds and over the last three years they have excessively and wastefully spent more than $800 million, showing that local governments won’t stop spending unless they are forced to. That is why property tax reform is necessary, and the voters have the opportunity to vote on it in November. Let’s make Florida more affordable.”

Greg Ungru, Americans for Prosperity, said, “Thank you, CFO Ingoglia, for continuing the fight for Florida’s taxpayers and bringing transparency to the citizens of Miami-Dade County. We must ensure that our local officials remain fiscally responsible and good stewards of taxpayer dollars.”

Over the past three years, Miami-Dade County has overspent by $807,361,670.15.

The Florida Agency of Fiscal Oversight’s findings revealed that the county’s budget has increased by $1,078,578,000. The population has grown by 5.72% or 154,248 people. For every family of four that moved into Miami-Dade County, the budget increased by $27,969.96.

Miami-Dade County can reduce its millage rate by 0.83 mills without impacting any fundamental services provided to residents. If the county applied FAFO’s recommendation, homeowners could save:

  • A taxable home value of $500,000 would save $413 per year.
  • A taxable home value of $600,000 would save $496 per year.
  • A taxable home value of $700,000 would save $579 per year.
CFO Ingoglia has uncovered over $3.1 billion in excessive, wasteful spending. CFO Ingoglia plans to continue to expose excessive, wasteful spending across the state of part of his role as Chief Financial Officer of Florida.
