Florida Department of Financial Services Receives Multiple Awards from Florida Public Relations Association Capital Chapter

4/21/2016

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Today, the Florida Department of Financial Services received multiple awards during the Florida Public Relations Association Capital Chapter’s annual Image Awards Ceremony. The Department received an Image Award and an overall Grand Image Award for their entry of Florida’s Bottom Line, Chief Financial Officer Jeff Atwater’s quarterly newsletter that gives Floridians clear, unfiltered economic data and analysis to help them make sound financial decisions. In addition, the Department received an Award of Distinction for their Special Event entry of the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony of the Monument to Florida’s Firefighters at the Capitol.

“Receiving this Grand Image Award is a testament to the staff who work diligently to produce Florida’s Bottom Line—from those who helped launch the newsletter in 2011 to those who continue to make each edition better than the last,” said CFO Atwater. “We have seen unprecedented growth in distribution and readership in the last year, and I am very pleased at the feedback that so many Floridians are finding the publication informative.”

The Grand Image Award is used to recognize the best entry in each of three divisions; in the case of Florida’s Bottom Line, is it for Division B: Printed Tools in Public Relations. In 2015, the Department exceeded its goals related to Florida’s Bottom Line for recruiting additional outside expert authors, increasing newsletter downloads, and growing overall readership.  The most recent edition about Financial Markets and Florida was released this week and can be accessed from the FBL website at http://www.myfloridacfo.com/floridasbottomline/.

The Department also received the Award of Distinction for the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony of the Monument to Florida’s Firefighters validating that the Department of Financial Services is able to create top-notch events and achieve statewide media coverage while being fiscally responsible with state resources.

“I am incredibly proud of the team who created a truly memorable event in honor of our fallen firefighters,” said CFO Atwater, who also serves as State Fire Marshal. “The ribbon cutting ceremony will be remembered by the hundreds of people who attended for the rest of their lives, and we look forward to another outstanding event when we mount the statue on the Monument in 2017.”

Additional information about the Fallen Firefighter Memorial at the Florida State Capitol can be found on the Florida Fire Chiefs’ Association webpage at www.ffca.org.
