NAPLES, Fla. — CFO and State Fire Marshal Jeff Atwater honored the winners of the Florida Fire Service Awards during a reception hosted yesterday evening at the Florida Capitol. Among the winners was North Collier Fire Control and Rescue Deputy Chief Eloy Ricardo who accepted the Fire Training Center of the Year Award on behalf of the North Collier Fire Training Center. The annual Fire Service Awards ceremony is held to reward and honor those in the fire service community who have shown exceptionalism in their profession.
Since 2014, the North Collier Training Facility has maintained a 100 percent Minimum Standards State Exam pass rate. In addition to ensuring that the future firefighters trained at the facility are technically prepared to perform their duties, the training center hosts interview training courses to help build confidence as trainees seek employment. The training center utilizes technological advances to provide students with access to online learning tools, including the use of helmet cams and drones that provide real-time feedback during training exercises.
The training facility engages in routine cost-saving efforts to make the most of their resources. For example, they’ve restored retired vehicles previously used by North Collier Fire Rescue into training simulators and mobile storage units.
The North Collier Fire Training Center is a recognized Certified Training Center fully accredited by the Florida Bureau of Fire Standards and Training. The North Collier Fire Training Center was nominated by the Florida Fire Training Director’s Association.
