Contact: CFO Atwater’s Press Office
(850) 413 – 2842

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. –  Investigators with the Florida State Fire Marshal’s Office, Bureau of Fire and Arson Investigations and the Tallahassee Fire Department have determined that the fire that occurred yesterday, February 1st, at Leon High School in Tallahassee was intentionally set and an act of arson. Fire investigators are working jointly with the Leon County Sheriff’s Office to identify the person(s) responsible for this act. At this time, there is no evidence to suggest that the fire is related to yesterday’s arrest, but the investigation remains open and ongoing.
Anyone with information regarding this fire is asked to call the Florida Advisory Committee on Arson Prevention Arson Tip Line at 1-877-NOARSON (1-877-662-7766).  Students, teachers, and community members can elect to remain anonymous if they wish. A reward of up to $5,000 is being offered for information that results in an arrest and conviction.
