TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Florida Chief Financial Officer Jeff Atwater today released the following statement regarding Florida’s “A” ranking in the U.S. Public Interest Research Group’s (PIRG) 2015 Following the Money report. This is the third straight year Florida has received an “A-” or better, with improvements made each year.
CFO Atwater said, “I’m proud that we have continued to improve each year and have earned an ‘A.’ When I took office, I committed to making Florida’s data more transparent, accountable and open. I championed changes to the law in 2012 that led to the creation of the Florida Accountability Contract Tracking System (FACTS) to give Floridians the ability to see how their tax dollars are being spent. Since then, our website has been recognized as one of the best in the nation, but we continue to explore opportunities to make even more information readily accessible.”
