Former Insurance Agent Charged with Fraud

CONTACT: Justin Glover

JACKSONVILLE—A former insurance agent was arrested today for allegedly submitting applications for life insurance policies on at least two deceased individuals.

Investigators say William Harold Beecher, Sr., 55, of 11669 Collins Creek Drive, in Jacksonville, allegedly collected nearly $1,000 in fraudulent commissions on policies issued by Lincoln Heritage Life Insurance Company. Beecher was charged with one count each of insurance fraud and grand theft. If convicted on all charges he faces 10 years in prison and a $10,000 fine.

Beecher surrendered to investigators with the state's Division of Insurance Fraud and was booked into the Duval County jail.

Beecher surrendered his insurance license earlier this year.

The Department of Financial Services, Division of Insurance Fraud, investigates fraud in all types of insurance, including health, life, auto, property and workers' compensation. To report information about this case or any other possible insurance fraud case, call the department's fraud hotline at 1-800-378-0445. A reward of up to $25,000 is offered for information leading to a conviction.
