Orlando Woman Charged with Attempted Murder, Arson

ORLANDO – An Orlando woman was arrested today on seven counts of attempted murder and two counts of first-degree arson after she allegedly set fire to two homes early this morning. All of the occupants escaped without injury, according to investigators with the Division of State Fire Marshal, Bureau of Fire and Arson Investigations.

Witnesses said they saw Nerry Jimenez, 42, of 1920 Lawne Villa Court, pour gasoline around the home of her ex-boyfriend at 9903 6th St. The witnesses said after she lit the fire Jimenez poured more gasoline on the flames before fleeing in her vehicle. Three occupants in the home at the time were able to extinguish the fire with a garden hose.

Jimenez then allegedly drove to 1738-B Americana Blvd. where an in-law lived. Investigators said she poured an unidentified accelerant along the threshold of the back sliding glass door and then lit it. Three adults and a child were in the apartment at the time.

Jimenez was booked into the Orange County Jail.
