7/3/2002

APOPKA - A team of investigators from the Florida Division of State Fire Marshal, Bureau of Fire and Arson Investigations, has concluded that a fire today at an 11th Street home was deliberately set.

Investigators said they found evidence of forced entry at the home, located at 9 E. 11th St. The fire caused an estimated $50,000 worth of damage. The residents were not home at the time of the fire, and no firefighter injuries were reported. The Red Cross was notified to assist the family.

The investigation is continuing to determine the motive for the fire and to identify the person or persons responsible. Investigators are urging anyone with information about this fire to call the State Fire Marshal's Office at 1-800-638-3473. A $2,500 reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest.

The Bureau of Fire and Arson Investigations is a law enforcement branch of the Division of State Fire Marshal that assists other state and local fire and law enforcement agencies in the investigation of fires of suspicious origin.
