Man Charged with Impersonating a State Fire Marshal

HOMOSASSA - A Citrus County man was arrested late last week and is facing charges of impersonating a state fire marshal.

Daniel Macias, a registered insurance adjuster and fire investigator, was arrested Thursday at his business, Mac Dan Adjusters Inc, located at 6421 W. Homosassa Trail by investigators with the State Fire Marshal's Office. He was booked into the Citrus County Jail.

Macias allegedly entered a Broward County fire station in May, claimed to be a state fire marshal and demanded information from a Broward County Fire Department captain regarding a Fort Lauderdale house fire. The fire department official did not believe Macias was a state fire marshal and did not comply with his request.

If convicted of the charge, Macias could face up to five years in prison.
