TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Today, Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Jimmy Patronis is urging Floridians to take advantage of the 2021 Back-to-School Sales Tax Holiday, which begins Saturday, July 31, 2021 and extends through Monday, August 9, 2021.

CFO Jimmy Patronis said, “As the start of a new school year is approaching in the Sunshine State, I encourage Florida families to take full advantage of the back-to-school sales tax holiday to stock up on new school clothes and supplies. Getting ready for the school year can be an expensive time for Floridians, and this tax break will help families ensure their children have all the supplies they need to reach their full academic potential this school year. A huge thank you to Governor DeSantis and the Legislature for passing and signing this important sales tax holiday. Don’t miss out on this great opportunity!”

During this sales tax holiday period, qualifying items will be exempt from tax, including certain school supplies selling for $15 or less per item; clothing, footwear, and certain accessories selling for $60 or less per item; and the first $1,000 of the sales price of personal computers and certain computer-related accessories purchased for noncommercial home or personal use.

For more information and a list of qualifying items, please review the Department of Revenue's 2021 Back-to-School Sales Tax Holiday Tax Information Publication (TIP) as well as their Frequently Asked Questions for consumers and businesses.
