TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Today, Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Jimmy Patronis recognizes today, October 12th, as National Savings Day and encourages Floridians to make saving a priority to secure their financial well-being. National Savings Day was established to empower people to feel more confident about saving money and educating them on financial wellness.
CFO Jimmy Patronis said, “Saving is the cornerstone of a strong financial foundation. Setting money aside each month allows families to handle unexpected costs or prepare for future expenses, like college tuition. As your CFO, I remain focused on ensuring all Floridians have the tools they need to make their hard-earned money work for them. Three Tips to Find Extra Money Each Month
• Keep track of everything you spend for a week. You might be surprised what you're buying, and what you can do without.
• Lower your bills. Many creditors will give borrowers a lower interest rate if they're asked. Also, conserving electricity and gas can make a big difference.
• Rank your nonessential expenses. Keep the ones you like the best and cut the items on the bottom of the list.
