Chief Financial Officer Blaise Ingoglia Awards Over $1.5 Million to Florida Fire Departments

HIALEAH, Fla.- Today, Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Blaise Ingoglia awarded over $1.5 million to Florida fire departments. These funds will assist fire departments in purchasing new equipment to protect from cancer causing contaminants and improving emergency response capabilities.   
     
Chief Financial Officer Blaise Ingoglia said, “Firefighters are continually putting their own lives on the line to respond to emergencies and protect our citizens. The toll that this line of work can take on a person is monumental, and I am deeply thankful for the men and women that serve our communities. This funding is a necessary investment in the health, safety, and well-being of our firefighters. As State Fire Marshal, it is an honor to work with Florida’s firefighters and ensure that we are dedicating every resource available to support them.” 

Hialeah Fire Chief Humfredo Perez said, "On behalf of the Hialeah Fire Department, I want to thank CFO Ingoglia for strengthening our ability to protect our residents and our firefighters. This funding will provide us with important tools to help save the lives of our firefighters serving our community.”
  
Florida Professional Firefighters District Vice President David Perez said, “Firefighters face not only daily risks but also long-term dangers in their profession. Through the money awarded today, fire departments can take proactive measures to limit exposure to harmful chemicals. Thank you, CFO Ingoglia, for your service and dedication to Florida’s first responders.” 

Miami-Dade Fire Union President Billy McAllister said, "Firefighters are the backbone of public safety. When our citizens call for help, we respond immediately. I want to thank CFO Ingoglia for recognizing the needs of first responders and providing us with the tools to respond to emergencies.”  

Florida Fire Chiefs Association Regional Director Chantal Botting said, “On behalf of the Florida Fire Chiefs Association, I want to sincerely thank CFO Ingoglia for your continued support of Florida’s fire service. We are also especially grateful for the State Fire Marshal Decontamination Grant.”   

Through the Firefighter Cancer Decontamination Grant Program, the Department of Financial Services allocates funding to support firefighter health and safety. This includes education, supplies, and equipment that mitigate exposure to cancer-causing substances.  

In addition, funding awarded today was appropriated in the Fiscal Year 2025-2026 Budget. These awards will assist with the purchase of equipment so that firefighters can respond to emergencies quickly and safely.

  • City of Hialeah - $36,206.69 
  • City of Lauderhill - $21,120 
  
Awards funded in the FY 2025-2026 Budget 
  • Islamorada Marine Emergency Response Vessel - $360,000 
  • Miami-Dade County Urban Search and Rescue Structural Collapse Training Prop - $240,500 
  • Miami-Dade County Fire Suppression Tanker - $650,000 
  • City of West Palm Beach Technical Equipment - $254,766
