CFO Jimmy Patrons said, “Since last year, we’ve been pushing hard on the idea of helping homeowners better fortify their homes from storms with our ‘Home Hardening’ initiative. This is a practical way of saving folks money while incentivizing homeowners to better protect their homes from hurricanes. These modifications alone will mitigate, or in some cases even reduce their insurance premiums. This is good policy at work, and I thank Chair Bobby Payne and the members of the House Ways & Means Committee as well as House leadership. They are doing right by their constituents in adding this important relief in the tax bill, and they deserve our thanks and praise.”

In an effort to fight insurance premium hikes CFO Jimmy Patronis announced the Home Hardening proposal in October of 2021 at a meeting of the Florida Chamber of Commerce. The CFO also formed fraud fighting squads along the I-4 corridor, a hot spot for insurance related fraud, to crack down on the kind of fraud that contributes to increasing insurance rates.
