CFO Jimmy Patronis: Tax Transparency Initiative Brings Predictability to Florida Property Taxes
9/5/2018
TALLAHASSEE, Fla.— Florida Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Jimmy Patronis announced today his new “Tax Transparency” initiative and launched a website to help inform Floridians of potential increases in their property taxes. The newly created page includes county-level data on 2019 proposed property tax rates compared to last year’s rates, as well as water management and school district tax rate information.
CFO Jimmy Patronis said, “Florida businesses have created more than 1.5 million jobs since 2010, our economy is now a $1 trillion economy, and our tax climate is rated fourth best in the United States. Florida’s economy is clearly on the right track. We won’t be able to stay on this path without transparency, especially when it comes to taxes at the local level.
“We’ve launched this new tool to help create a transparent and predictable system so that current and future residents and businesses can easily see tax rate information in each county. An informed public is an empowered public, and Florida residents and businesses have the right to access this information easily.”
Information on how to contact local taxing authorities can be found at the Department of Revenue’s website here.
