Licensure as a life/health insurance agent in another state that reciprocates with Florida exempts an applicant from the educational requirement (40-hour life/health agent qualification course); it does NOT exempt an applicant from having to take and pass the applicable exam(s) unless the applicant holds the CLU designation.
Licensure as a resident or non-resident all-lines adjuster in another state (regardless of either independent or company) that reciprocates with Florida exempts an applicant from the Florida examination. Please view the list below to see if you hold an adjuster license in a state that will exempt you from the non-resident all-lines adjuster Florida examination. Florida law requires that in order for a nonresident surplus lines agent to obtain a license in Florida, the applicant must hold a resident surplus lines license in his/her home state (Residents of New York are not eligible to obtain a Florida surplus lines license)
A person who took and passed a surplus lines license examination in his/her home state will NOT be required to take a Florida surplus lines license examination to obtain a Florida nonresident surplus lines agent license.
