Florida Fire Prevention Code (FFPC)

The Florida Fire Prevention Code is adopted by the State Fire Marshal at three year intervals as required by Chapter 633.202, Florida Statutes. This complex set of fire code provisions are enforced by the local fire official within each county, municipality, and special fire district in the state. The county, municipality or special district in which you reside may also have local amendments applicable only to your community.

Local Amendments to the Florida Fire Prevention Code

You may access any local amendment affecting your community by clicking on the "Local Amendments" link below. Local amendments are enforceable only by the local jurisdiction and may not be appealed to the State Fire Marshal.

8th Edition Adoption Proceedings

The Department of Financial Services, Division of State Fire Marshal, announces that it is seeking written comments and proposals for Florida specific amendments to the edition of NFPA 1 (2021 edition) and NFPA 101 (2021 edition).  This comment period ends September 30, 2021 at 5:00 pm.  Written comments should be addressed to: John Gatlin, Chief, Bureau of Fire Prevention, Department of Financial Services, Division of State Fire Marshal, 200 East Gaines Street, Tallahassee, Florida 32399-0340.

Interested persons can seek and receive an informal non-binding opinion on requests involving questions related to the Florida Fire Prevention Code through the Florida Fire Marshal and Inspector Association.
