The Receiver has worked with the Florida Office of Insurance Regulation (OIR), the Florida Insurance Guaranty Association (FIGA) on a transition plan which would provide continued coverage for the Sunshine State policyholders offered by Heritage Property & Casualty Insurance Company. The Transition Plan was approved by the Court on June 13, 2014. Policies subject to this Transition Plan will be cancelled effective 12:01 a.m. on June 27, 2014. For details of the Transition Plan, please click here. Notices will be sent to agents and policyholder regarding the transition coverage very soon. Policyholders not being offered replacement coverage will have their policies cancelled, pursuant to the liquidation order, on July 3, 2014.
Policyholders should contact their agents for questions concerning their policies. Policyholders with transition / replacement policies should contact Hertitage at 1-855-323-8040 with any questions concerning their Heritage policies.
Note - Flood insurance and Builders' Risk policies are not covered under the Transition Plan. Flood policies are not cancelled by the Liquidation Order and will continue, except if the policy was previously cancelled as a result of the nonpayment of current premium, or upon the normal expiration date. Agents cannot write new policies in the name of Sunshine State.
Owners of Builders' Risk policies should contact their agents regarding replacement coverage. Builders' Risk policies cancelled on July 3, 2014.
