Negotiating with insurance companies can be tricky. Sha’Ron James can help.
James, Florida’s insurance consumer advocate, will host a meet-and-greet 5:30 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Palm Beach Gardens City Hall, 10500 N. Military Trail. Those who attend can discuss any insurance-related issues they have with James and her staff.
Her office represents Floridians on all insurance issues. For information about the Palm Beach Gardens event, call Elicia Sanders at 561-799-4238.
James reports directly to the state CFO but is otherwise independent under state law.
Before she was appointed as insurance consumer advocate, she served as the director of the Department of Financial Services’ division of rehabilitation and liquidation. In that role, she had to deal with consumers who were facing a loss of coverage when a Florida insurance company failed financially.
She replaced the retired Steve Burgess when she took on the new role in August 2015.
