You have another 60 days to file a National Flood Insurance Program claim for Hurricane Matthew but Hermine’s door has formally closed, state officials said Friday.
Florida Insurance Commissioner David Altmaier said he requested the Federal Emergency Management Agency grant another extension giving NFIP policyholders in Florida an additional 60 days to file a complete, signed, and sworn proof of loss in support of their insurance claim for flooding damages associated with Matthew.
On Jan. 31, the proof of loss extension for claims associated with Hurricane Hermine officially expired, though state officials advised policyholders to “continue working” with claims handlers if they have questions.
