Summary of Rule:

Sections 429.41 and 663.206, F.S., requiure the Division of State Fire Marshall to establish uniform fire safety standards for assisted living facilities using the current editions of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 101, Life Safety Code, and NFPA 101A, Guide to Alternative Approaches to Life Safety. The Proposed rule will require a non-legacy facility to comply with the fire exit drill requiremnets of the occupancy classification as designated by the local authority having jurisdiction mandated in the current editions of the NFPA 101, Life Saftey Code, and NFPA 101A, Guide on Alternative Approaches to Life Safety.

Summary of Rule:

The proposed amendments to Rules 69A-39.003 and 69A-39.005, F.A.C., update the standards for obtaining certification as an Inservice Firesaftey Inspector and Fire Code Administrator and create new standards for obtaining certification as a Firesaftey Inspector and Fire Code Administrator and create new standards for obtaining certification as a Firesaftey Inspector I, II, and III. The standards are based on NFPA 1031, Standard for Profesional Qualifications for Fire Inspector and Plan Examiner (2014 Edition), and NFPA 1037. Standard for Professional Qualifications for Fire Marshal (2016 Edition). Rule 69A-39.009, F.A.C., is being repealed since the provisions for renewing a firesafety inspector and fire code administrator certification have been movbed to Rule 69A-39.005, F.A.C.
