Workers' Compensation Statistics
Bureau of Monitoring and Audit Mission Statement:
The mission of the Bureau of Monitoring and Audit is to ensure
timely and accurate benefits to injured workers, timely payments for
medical services, as well as accurate payroll reporting and coverage
for self-insured employers. The bureau uses a wide variety of
strategies to accomplish this mission, all of which contribute to
the division accomplishing its first and second goals: serving as
comprehensive resource and developing an unparalleled real-time
environment.
Insurer Audit Performance
For Fiscal-Year 2004/05, the Audit Section of the Bureau of
Monitoring and Audit completed 40 audits. The Audit Section
continued to pursue not only the timeliness of the indemnity
benefits, but also the accuracy of the payment to the injured worker
as well. A total of 10,007 claim files were reviewed for the timely
payment of indemnity, and medical benefits, as well as for the
timely submission of required forms.
Pursuant to Section 440.525, F.S., audits may address, but are
not limited to addressing, patterns or practices of unreasonable
delay in claims handling; timeliness and accuracy of payments and
reports, or patterns or practices of harassment, coercion, or
intimidation of claimants.
With the implementation of the CPS program, the Audit Section has
started to analyze the data that is being filed with the Division as
part of the audit.
