The Division of Workers’ Compensation, in conjunction with the Agency for Health Care Administration (Agency), is actively seeking qualified Expert Medical Advisors (EMAs) to provide expert medical consultation, opinions and testimony in disputes regarding care or compensation for Florida’s injured workers. EMAs are needed throughout the state to work with the Agency as well as Judges of Workers’ Compensation Claims (JCCs).

EMAs make sure injured workers get the right level of medical care to return to optimum health and to work as quickly as possible. They also protect employers and insurance carriers from excessive or unnecessary costs – costs that are passed on to Florida employers through higher workers’ compensation premiums.

By having a pool of qualified EMAs immediately available to help with disputes, the system works as quickly and expeditiously as possible. Physicians also get the added recognition of being identified as an expert in Florida’s workers’ compensation program.

The Agency must certify interested physicians to render EMA services according to qualifications established pursuant to Chapter 59A-30, Florida Administrative Codes. To find out more about the qualifications and responsibilities of an EMA, click on the links below:
