Chief Financial Officer Jeff Atwater and the Florida Cabinet to Hold Meeting in Florida’s Medical City

Florida is home to the 650-acre health and life sciences park known as Lake Nona Medical City. It is considered a top location for medical care, research and education.  Lake Nona Medical City is anchored by six medical centers, research institutes and academic centers including Nemours Children’s Hospital, Sanford-Burnham Medical Research Institute, the VA Hospital, the University of Central Florida’s College of Medicine, and the University of Florida’s Research Center.
 
Florida’s Chief Financial Officer Jeff Atwater, joined by other members of the Florida Cabinet, will be holding the first meeting for the month of May in Lake Nona Medical City. The day’s events will begin with a breakfast at Sanford-Burnham Medical Research Institute and the Cabinet meeting at Nemours Children’s Hospital. The day will culminate with the Florida Cabinet touring Medical City.

Chief Financial Officer Jeff Atwater, a statewide elected official and officer of the Florida Cabinet, oversees the Department of Financial Services including the Division of Insurance Fraud.  CFO Atwater’s priorities include fighting financial fraud, abuse and waste in government; reducing government spending and regulatory burdens that chase away businesses; and providing transparency and accountability in spending.
