Statement from Chief Financial Officer Jeff Atwater on the Hiring of SBA Inspector General

TALLAHASSEE—Chief Financial Officer Jeff Atwater today released the following statement regarding the appointment of Kenneth A. Chambers as the inspector general at the State Board of Administration (SBA).
“I am pleased that the executive director of the State Board of Administration has taken the critical step of hiring an inspector general, a key role in the compliance structure at the SBA.
“With this position in place, I am confident that there are now stronger controls which will ensure the highest ethical standards are employed and enforced at the SBA. Filling this important role will go a long way towards ensuring accountability, integrity and transparency.”
Chief Financial Officer Jeff Atwater, a statewide elected official and officer of the Florida Cabinet, oversees the Department of Financial Services, including the Division of Insurance Fraud. CFO Atwater’s priorities include fighting financial fraud, abuse and waste in government, reducing government spending and regulatory burdens that chase away businesses and providing transparency and accountability in spending.
