Today's firefighter has a wide variety of pumper styles and sizes available to him.  Below are a few examples of modern fire service pumpers in the United States.  Fire engines don’t come in just red anymore either.  As you will see, fire departments paint their equipment in many colors.

There are pumpers that carry hose and water and only pump the water to the scene of the fire.  These pumpers can pump at a rate of up to 2000 gallons per minute (GPM) at up to 300 pounds pressure.

Other types of  pumpers not only carry hose and pump the water to the scene of the fire but also carry special equipment for emergency medical assistance, such as this Basic Life Support (BLS) pumper.

Still other  pumpers have special water towers attached to them so they can direct the streams of water into upper floors of tall buildings and farther back into lower buildings.  This pumper is of a type called the ”Telesquirt”, there are others too.

Here, in the Modern Pumper pages, you will find more pictures and descriptions of many different types of pumpers found in the State of Florida and throughout the United States.  These are the fire service pumpers that are used today.  There will also be some pictures and descriptions of some advanced space age designs in future editions of the Modern Pumper section of the Hot Spot Fire House.  So drop back again and check us out.
