The Bronto Skylift 235

The Bronto Skylift 235, (Guess why they picked that name?)  is currently one of the tallest fire aerial trucks ever made.  Built by Emergency One, of Ocala, Florida, it can lift up to 1000 pounds and it can rise to a height of 235 feet.  That's about the same as lifting 5 great big men, all at once, up 23 stories high!

Now that is a bit higher than the rickety homemade wooden ladders our forefathers used.  They needed to climb up to rescue people from windows too.

Bronto Basket

The basket, or bucket as it is sometimes called, is where the firefighters stand when being lifted up.  The firefighters carry their tools in the basket and also use the basket to take people out of tall buildings.

If you look you can see two big nozzles that the firefighters can use to put out large fires.  Only two firefighters are allowed in the basket when these big nozzles are being used.
