ON-CAMPUS STUDENT SERVICES
To make the educational process as successful as possible, the Florida State
Fire College is nearly a self-sufficient campus. Combined with its location,
these student services make FSFC a retreat for the fire service where learning
is the only concern.

Dormitories:
A limited number of dormitories are available at the Fire College and there
are also established discount rates at nearby lodging facilities for Fire
College students, see listing on page 55. Fire College dormitory rates are
$15.00 daily and $75.00 weekly. Advance notification and prepayment are
required for reservations. Sunday arrivals must check in with security for
the dorm room key. Students need to bring their own towels and toiletries.
Check out and key return is mandatory to housekeeping by noon of
the last day of class.
No pets are permitted on campus or in the dorms with the exception of
certified service dogs.
The Florida State Fire College accepts VISA, MasterCard, American Express and
Discover charge cards for all transactions. Dormitory registration form is with
the Course Registration Form at the bottom of each Course Description.
*NOTE * Course and Dorm Registration Forms may be found at the end of each
course description in Course Information
section.
Quiet hours in the dormitories begin at 10 p.m. and run until 7 a.m. Curfew
for Minimum Standard students is 11:30 p.m. Those that violate the campus quiet
hours policy are subject to dismissal from campus as outlined in the conduct
policy. Due effort must be made to locate a lost key before a request for a
replacement will be considered. The student is responsible for reading and
complying with all posted dormitory regulations. In times of declared State
emergency, the dormitories may be used in support of the College's emergency
shelter/operations center status, in accordance with the Division of State Fire
Marshal's emergency response plan. This emergency role may supersede any use of
the dormitories by students.
Laundry: There are coin-operated washers and dryers located in the
dormitory building. Bunker gear is not to be washed in these machines.

Services Page.

Cafeteria:
The Fire College cafeteria, Cafe' Flambe', operated by Marion County
Adult Education (352) 369-2804, provides full meals, as well as salad bar
and grill services, for breakfast and lunch only. Call the cafeteria for
information on purchasing meal plan tickets for your stay. Special food
requirements must be arranged through the cafeteria in advance. Vending
machines are located at the Clark Assembly Hall, in the dormitories and in the
apparatus building. Please refer to the Campus
Map for locations.
Bookstore: There is a school store located in the lobby of Building
C, which sells textbooks, study guides, clothing items, limited school supplies,
and souvenirs. Store hours are posted. The Book and souvenir order form can be
found on the Bookstore page.

Medical Emergencies: Report any medical emergencies to your instructor,
the receptionist and/or Security. The local emergency number is 911. Students
requiring medical attention may be taken to the emergency room at a local
hospital or may request assistance in arranging an appointment with local
physician. Any medical expenses are the responsibility of the student. The
local hospitals will accept medical insurance identification, cash, check, or
major credit card.
Parking: Student and guest parking is provided on the campus loop.
Please do not park in faculty/staff parking areas or other restricted
parking zones, designated by 'reserved' markings. Refer to the
Campus Map for location of parking.
Computer Access: A computer kiosk has been placed in the
lobby of building 'C' for the purpose of checking personal e-mail.
Learning Resource Center: Located in building 'C', the Learning
Resource Center provides codes and standards, up-to-date as well as archive
books and periodicals pertinent to fire topics, and the means of providing the
student with material to complete class assignments. Computers are available
for use in web search and student email. Staff is provided to assist in the use
of various software and data research. Hours are posted.
Recreation: There are television lounges in each wing of the
dormitory building. Basketball and volleyball courts are located adjacent to
the apparatus building, to be used only from 5-11 p.m. Athletic equipment
(basketballs and volleyballs) is available for check-out in Building 'C'. This
includes basketballs and volleyballs.

Smoking: All buildings on campus are non-smoking. Designated smoking
areas are noted on the Campus Map.
Visitors: Students are responsible for their visitors and may meet
visitors in designated common areas (i.e. cafeteria, courtyard, learning
resource center, student lounges). Students are prohibited from entertaining
visitors in their rooms.
Security: The campus is staffed with a security patrol after class
hours, and a 24-hour basis on weekends. Students are required to comply with
any request from security of FSFC staff to enter or inspect a room or to produce
identification. As the school uses inmate labor, under regulation from the
Florida Department of Corrections, students are advised not to engage in
communication with such inmates as may be working on campus and report any
communications from inmates to their instructor.
