Terrorism Series:
Note: The Department of Education Statewide Course Numbering System uses the FFP prefix to indicate thoses courses within the Fire Science Curriculum. The first number indicates the level, either Freshman (1) or Sophomore (2), and the last three numbers indicate the course topic. Due to the variety of courses offered through out the state it should be noted that courses with the same last three numbers are the same course, contain the same course content and contact hours regardless of the first leveling number.

TERRORISM SERIES
NFA EMERGENCY RESPONSE TO TERRORISM: BASIC CONCEPTS (ERT:BC)
FSFC 801 (16 contact hours, 0 college credits, class size: 15 minimum, 30 maximum)
Textbook: NFA Student Manual
Course Fee: $24.00, payable to Florida Department of Financial Services
This awareness-level course, developed by the National Fire Academy, is designed primarily for fire-rescue and EMS personnel, although other emergency responders can benefit from the course. A background in hazardous materials is helpful but not required. The program covers the history and categories of terrorism and terrorist organizations in the United States and abroad, self-protection measures to be taken at explosive and NBC (nuclear-biological-chemical) incidents, crime scene and perimeter control procedures, defensive tactical operations, and building an Incident Command organization for terrorism responses. This course is also available for field delivery upon request.

This two-day course is designed to build upon the existing skills of the initial first-responding supervisor from the Emergency Response to Terrorism: Basic Concepts course or Emergence Response to Terrorism: Self-Study guide. The students will be trained in security considerations, identifying signs of terrorism, anticipation unusual response circumstances, assessing information, and initiating self-protection actions.

EMERGENCY RESPONSE TO TERRORISM: TACTICAL CONSIDERATIONS
- EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICE (ERT:TC-EMS)

This two-day course is designed for the first on-the-scene responding EMS personnel with the responsibility to render patient care to victims of terrorist incidents. The students will be trained in security considerations, identifying signs of terrorism, anticipating unusual response circumstances, assessing information, and initiating self-protection actions. The students also will apply their knowledge about responding to a terrorist event, providing patient care, identifying and preserving evidence, managing site safety, documenting the event, and debriefing personnel.

This two-day course is designed for the first on-the-scene responding hazardous materials technician or persons who have the responsibility of developing initial hazardous materials tactical considerations. The students will be trained in security considerations, identifying signs of terrorism, anticipating unusual response circumstances, assessing information, and initiating self-protection actions. The students also will apply their knowledge about responding to a terrorist event, managing site safety, documenting the event, and debriefing personnel.
