New America Insurance Company

New America Insurance Company ("New America") is a Florida property and casualty insurer that was placed in receivership for purposes of rehabilitation on July 1, 2004. New America wrote homeowners and dwelling fire insurance coverage. The company provided insurance coverage to approximately 15,000 policyholders at the time it entered into receivership. It did not write coverage in any other state and is not currently writing new business. By Court order, all insurance policies issued by New America were cancelled effective 11:59 P.M., Eastern Daylight Time, July 31, 2004, unless otherwise terminated in the ordinary course of business prior to that date. The Receiver closed the company’s offices as a cost savings measure.
