On November 6, 2001, Underwriters Guarantee Insurance Company ("Underwriters") was placed into rehabilitation by the Second Judicial Circuit Court of Leon County, Florida ("Court"). Underwriters consented to the appointment of the Florida Department of Financial Services as Receiver due to the financial condition of the company.
On March 6, 2006, the Court issued an order approving the sale of Underwriters to APC Financial Holdings, Inc. following approval of the proposed transaction by the Florida Office of Insurance Regulation ("Office") on February 24, 2006. The order also provided for the termination of the Receivership and final discharge of the Receiver.
On July 6, 2006, Underwriters satisfied all requirements needed to reinstate its certificate of authority and the company was granted authority to write Workers Compensation (0160) and Commercial Auto Liability (0194) insurance coverage. On August 15, 2006, the Office approved the name change of the company from Underwriters Guarantee Insurance Company to AequiCap Property and Casualty Insurance Company.
