Division of Rehabilitation and Liquidation
How do I contact HPIC to file a new claim or to check on the status of a pending claim?
For Florida Policyholders:
During liquidation, the Florida Insurance Guaranty Association (FIGA) steps in and handles the processing and payment of covered loss claims. You may contact FIGA by calling (800) 988-1450 or by mail at the following address:
Florida Insurance Guaranty Association P.O. Box 14249 Tallahassee, FL 32317
New claims can also be sent by email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
FIGA pays covered claims up to a maximum of $300,000 per claim. For Homeowners claims, there is an additional $200,000 available for Coverage A and Coverage C losses. Loss claim payments are subject to a $100 statutory deductible per claim.
For Texas Policyholders:
Policyholders should continue to notify HPIC of claims under normal reporting procedures, including the reporting of new claims as well as lawsuits pertinent to policies of the company. The Florida Department of Financial Services is currently making arrangements for Texas loss claims files and associated information for shipment to TPCIGA for handling. During liquidation, the Texas Property and Casualty Insurance Guaranty Association (TPCIGA) steps in and handles the processing and payment of covered loss claims in accordance with the Texas statutes. You may contact TPCIGA by calling (800) 856-0298 or by visiting their website at www.tpciga.org.
During liquidation, prior to the Florida Insurance Guaranty Association (FIGA) becoming operational, continue to report a claim by calling toll-free 1-866-496-1782. Claims can be reported 24 hours a day, seven days a week. For other policy or claim inquiries, consumers may call HPIC’s main consumer line at (813) 418-5570 during regular business hours which are Monday – Friday from 8:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. EST.
Once FIGA is operational, the website will be updated to provide contact information to establish communications with FIGA.
If I have general questions about the receivership of HPIC, how do I contact the Florida Department of Financial Services which is the court-appointed Receiver of HPIC?
