How do I report a new claim or request to re-open a claim?

The deadline for filing a new claim or requesting a claim be re-opened was April 12, 2010. This is a result of the Court's approval of the Receiver's Plan of Rehabilitation. To view a copy of the Motion and Order related to the approved Plan of Rehabilitation, click here.

What is the status of my pending claim?

Any pending claims (open or re-opened as of April 12, 2010) will be processed in the normal course of business. If you need to find out the status of a pending claim with a date of loss that was prior to the expiration or termination of your Florida Select policy, you may contact the Receiver using the "Contact Us" form or by calling #850-413-3081 (toll-free to Florida residents by calling 800-882-3054).

If I have already filed a claim with Florida Select, will the Rehabilitation affect the status of my claim?

No. To the extent possible, claims will be processed in the ordinary course of business.

How much will be paid on my claim?

The company’s rehabilitation status should not affect the payments on your claim.

There is a lawsuit being brought against me for bills that Florida Select should have paid. What should I do?

Notify Florida Select through the company’s regular claims filing procedures.

I am scheduled to attend mediation through the Florida Department of Financial Services Mediation Program. Will I still be able to go to mediation?

Yes. The company will continue to handle scheduled mediations so long as the mediation was scheduled prior to the claim filing deadline of April 12, 2010.

I went to mediation through the Florida Department of Financial Services Mediation Program and my insurer and I entered into a settlement agreement. Is this agreement still binding?

Yes. The company will continue to process mediation settlements with oversight from the Receiver.

Is it too late to request mediation through the Florida Department of Financial Services Hurricane Mediation Program for a prior hurricane claim?

Any pending claims (open or re-opened as of April 12, 2010) will be handled in the normal course of business. However it is too late to re-open a claim and request mediation due to the court ordered claim filing deadline.
