What is the current status of my insurance policy?
Continuation of Coverage: Pursuant to the Liquidation Order, the company’s existing policies are not cancelled by the order. The Florida Life and Health Insurance Guaranty Association (FLAHIGA) will step in and take over AvaHealth’s obligations to collect premiums and administer policies. Although FLAHIGA will give you at least 180 days notice prior to terminating your AvaHealth policy, ultimately, the AvaHealth policies will be terminated. A letter from FLAHIGA regarding the cancellation or termination of policies was enclosed with the Notice to Agents and the Notice to Policyholders which were mailed by the Receiver during the initial weeks of the receivership.
You should contact your insurance agent for additional information and advice regarding your health insurance coverage, including advice as to you other insurance options.
Can I purchase a new insurance policy from my company?
No. AvaHealth is no longer allowed to write new business.
What if I am due a premium refund by my company?
Upon cancellation of policies by FLAHIGA, the guaranty association will refund unearned premiums. Premium refunds covered by FLAHIGA are mailed from or on behalf of the guaranty association. If you believe you are due a refund, please contact the guaranty association for assistance.
If I have a premium payment that is due prior to the policy cancellation date and I have not yet cancelled my policy, should I make my payment?
Policyholders should continue to pay premiums for any invoice with a due date on or prior to the cancellation effective date set by FLAHIGA. Any installment payment due after the cancellation effective date should not be submitted.
How do I make a premium payment?
AvaHealth is no longer accepting any automated premium payments or credit cards. To pay your premium payment, you will need to send a check, payable to FLAHIGA and addressed to the following:

Please be sure to include the name of the policyholder and policy number with your payment.
Can I endorse my policy to increase coverage at this time?
No. Since the company is no longer writing new or renewal business, it will not accept any endorsement requests which would increase the company’s potential liabilities.
How do I move my insurance coverage to another carrier?
All policyholders should contact their agent in order to plan for obtaining replacement insurance coverage upon cancellation of their policy.
