CFO SINK HONORS WINNERS OF SUSTAINABLE FLORIDA AWARDS
At Tuesday’s Cabinet meeting, Chief Financial Officer Alex
Sink honored the winners of the Sustainable Florida Awards.
Sustainable Florida awards are given to Floridians,
businesses and governments who have made a commitment to a
Sustainable Florida and have demonstrated exemplary
leadership.
Sustainable Florida award winners promote the goals of a
healthy environment, a prosperous economy, a satisfying
quality of life, broad public participation, and vibrant,
livable communities.
This year, the Council for Sustainable Florida honored the
following winners:

CFO Sink’s resolution recognizing this year’s winners is
copied below.
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, the citizens of Florida desire to maintain a
beautiful state with rich natural resources, healthy
ecosystems, a diverse and productive economy, vibrant
communities, and a lifestyle full of opportunities for
personal growth, education, and public involvement; and
WHEREAS, since 1990, Sustainable Florida, a program
of the Collins Center for Public Policy, has served as a
private, non-profit organization that provides a
non-partisan forum for examining diverse perspectives
regarding the advantages and opportunities to be gained
through adopting a sustainable development philosophy for
Florida; and
WHEREAS, through dialogue, education, and training,
Sustainable Florida promotes an appreciation and awareness
of the important links between a healthy environment, a
prosperous economy, a satisfying quality of life and
vibrant, livable communities at the state and regional
levels; and
WHEREAS, the Sustainable Florida – Collins Center
created the Best Practice Awards to honor those committed to
creating a sustainable Florida and have demonstrated
exemplary leadership; and
WHEREAS, these awards are an example of state-level
recognition for accomplishments and leadership in
sustainable development and are a respected measure of best
performance standards in the integration of environmental,
social, and economic factors for the long-term
sustainability of Florida.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Governor and
Cabinet of the State of Florida do hereby recognize the 2008
Sustainable Florida Best Practice Award recipients for
outstanding achievements and excellence
IN TESTIMONY WHEREOF the Governor and Cabinet of the
State of Florida have hereunto subscribed their names and
have caused the Official Seal of the State of Florida to be
hereunto affixed in the City of Tallahassee on this 10th day
of June, 2008.
