The right thing to do is the only thing to do.
An estimated 12,500 Holocaust
survivors and their families in Florida are being assessed an international
wire transfer fee, ranging from $10 to $40 a transaction. This transfer
fee amounts to a 10 percent tax on each payment the survivor receives,
and is a significant financial burden considering that vast majority
are elderly and rely on these payments. I am partnering with several
financial institutions in Florida to waive the wire transfer fee
on reparation payments.
I encourage you to explore this site's features which include a
list of participating financial institutions in Florida, additional
information and contact numbers regarding Holocaust insurance claims,
a generic fee waiver form for financial institutions, as well as
the Insurance Claims Legislation and the Holocaust Victims Insurance
Act.
While nothing we do can ever fully repay those who suffered through
this atrocity, anything we can do to keep money in their pockets
is helpful.
What else can we do to help? Please let us know. You can reach us by phone: 1-877-MY-FL-CFO (1-877-693-5236) or via email.
If you are a Holocaust Survivor and your bank is not participating in the program, please contact us and we will reach out to your financial institution on your behalf.
