Licensure as a life/health insurance agent in another state that reciprocates with Florida exempts an applicant from the educational requirement (40-hour life/health agent qualification course); it does NOT exempt an applicant from having to take and pass the applicable exam(s) unless the applicant holds the CLU designation.
The Division signed a reciprocal agreement with Puerto Rico for
property, casualty, surplus lines, life, health/disability and variable
annuity. Per Florida Statutes 626.015(8), 626.171(2)(4) and 626.172, we
will issue non-resident agency licenses in Puerto Rico for
agents/producers obtaining property, casualty, life, health and annuity
license(s) and appointments.
Fingerprint processing for foreign officers who do not hold a
social security or legal alien card requires a longer process to receive
results from FDLE. The individuals must submit 2 completed fingerprint
cards along with a check for the $58.25 processing fee to the attention
of Agent and Agency Licensing. The check must be payable to Department
of Financial Services or DFS. The timeframe to receive fingerprint
results for foreign officers is 2-3 months.
Applicants for an independent or company adjuster license in another state that required an examination at the time of licensure exempts an applicant from the examination requirement in Florida.
