COMPTROLLER'S MEMORANDUM NO. 03 (1981-82)
SUBJECT: CONTRACTED LEGAL SERVICES
The General Appropriations Act for the 1982
Fiscal Year (Chapter 81-206, Laws of Florida) restricts the expenditure
of funds appropriated to the various agencies of the Executive
Branch for contracted legal services without prior approval of
the Attorney General.
We have been advised that agencies should
submit their requests for approval to Mr. Ken Tucker, Deputy Attorney
General, Department of Legal Affairs, The Capitol, Tallahassee
32301. Evidence of approval must be submitted as supporting documentation
on the initial payment from current year funds regardless of whether
it is a new agreement or a continuation of an existing contract.
It is our opinion that this restriction does
not apply to the payment of court awarded legal fees.
Questions regarding this memorandum should be directed to the Bureau of Auditing at 410-9194, Suncom 210-9194.
