SUBJECT: SELLING SURPLUS PROPERTY ON eBay

Section 273.055(3), Florida Statutes, sets forth the requirements for disposing of state-owned tangible personal property that has been certified as surplus. We have determined that the sale of surplus property by utilizing eBay’s electronic auction venue is consistent with the legislative intent behind Chapter 273 and is in the best interest of the state. Furthermore, the state purchasing card may be used to pay eBay’s listing fee.
