| SUBJECT: |
Direct Deposit For Employees Converting to
SES |
Public Law 2001-43, known as Service First, will move a large number
of employees from the Career Service to the Select Exempt Service. This
change in Pay Plan will eliminate the exemption from Direct Deposit
(Electronic Funds Transfer) for any of those employees who have been
continuously employed in the Career Service since before July 1, 1996.
This requirement is set forth in subsection (2) of section 110.113,
Florida Statutes. Approximately 1,500 employees were initially identified
as needing to enroll in the direct deposit program, based on the proposed
list of affected career service class codes.
Once the final list of affected classes is made available, the EFT
Section will provide to each Personnel Officer: a report of those employees
and individual, preprinted Direct Deposit Authorization Forms. The report
and forms will be printed in payroll distribution sequence to facilitate
internal distribution.
An announcement of the distribution will be placed on both the Payroll
and FLAIR news screens.
Questions concerning this issue may be addressed to any staff member
in the EFT Section at (850) 410-9466, SunCom 210-9466. You also may
contact the Section at directdeposit@mail.dbf.state.fl.us.
