Agency Addressed (No. 6, 2000-01) |
| FROM: |
Douglas A. Darling, Director
Division of Accounting & Auditing
Office of Comptroller |
| SUBJECT: |
Implementation of Florida Accounting Information
Resource (FLAIR) Edits |
March 1, 2001, began the first phase in a three-part process to improve
the information entered in the state's accounting system, FLAIR. Effective
March 1, new expansion option entries or updates to existing expansion
options require the budget entity to be compatible with state program
code. If it is not, the addition or update will not be allowed.
The second part will occur over the coming months and consist of
coordinating with agency personnel to eliminate the expansion options
appearing on the DEXR05 report, ACTIVE EXPANSION OPTION RECORDS WITH
INVALID CODES. Our expectation is to work with a representative from
each agency in reviewing the entries on the report. When it is determined
the report contains only errors in need of deletion, we intend to programmatically
inactivate or mark for deletion the erroneous expansion option/version
entries carried on departmental files. (Our goal is to complete the
task with no active entries on the reports.)
The final part of the process will be to implement edits by transaction
code. The edits will prohibit invalid codes from being entered through
FLAIR. Valid codes are those that are in an active status on the statewide
title file.
