Detailed Instructions and Hints on Searching the Database

  • Search criteria may be entered into any or all of the blanks provided. Only those records matching all of the criteria, up to the maximum number of records allowed, will be returned.
  • Each search term is insensitive to upper or lowercase input. Thus Smith is equivalent to SMITH.
  • Searches by Employer Name return records starting with the search value entered. For example, searching by Employer Name using the value Widget retrieves records with Employer Names of "WIDGETS, INC", "WIDGETS BY PAUL", and "WIDGET NORTH CO". At least 3 characters must be entered for this criteria. This is a required field.
  • Searches by Employer City return records starting with the search value entered. For example, searching by Employer City using the value Tal retrieves records for the Employer Name entered in the Cities of "Tallahassee" and "Talaveris". At least 3 characters must be entered for this criteria.
  • Searches by Federal ID Number return records exactly matching the 9-digit search value. For example, using the value 112222222 retrieves only the record(s) with a Federal ID Number of "112222222". All 9 digits must be entered for this criteria.
  • Searches by Employer Policy Number return records exactly matching the search value entered. For example, using the value 12345 retrieves only the record(s) with an Employer Policy Number of "12345". Leave out hyphens, spaces and special characters when entering the policy number …example WC-12345 should be entered as WC12345.
  • Searches by Exemption Holder return a list of exemption holders that match the name entered.   You may use partial names , for example, entering the last name of SCHW will return an Exemption Holders List with Names like "SCHWARTZ", "SCHWARZENEGGER", and "SCHWAB". To narrow the search it is recommended that you use complete names and a first name or initial.   You also have the choice of searching for Construction or Non-Construction exemptions.
  • Searches by Exemption Holder SSN return records exactly matching the 9-digit search value. For example, using the value 112222222 retrieves only the record(s) with an SSN of "112222222". All 9 digits must be entered for this criteria.
