Notice of Election To Be Exempt

The Division of Workers' Compensation offers a Notice of Election to be Exempt system for individuals to apply for or renew a Certificate of Election to be Exempt electronically and, if the applicant is engaged in the construction industry, to submit electronic payment of the exemption fee. Payment can be submitted using Visa, Mastercard, or E-Check. The system is convenient and easy to use. If at any time you need assistance with the DWC Notice of Election to be Exempt system, you may contact the Division’s Customer Service Unit at (850) 413-1609 or email at wc_exemption@myfloridacfo.com.

• Effective July 1, 2013, Section 440.02(9), Florida Statutes has been amended to include Limited Liability Company (LLC) members as employees. LLC members will be included on their Workers’ Compensation insurance policy; however, they may elect to be exempt by filing a Notice of Election to Be Exempt with the Division of Workers' Compensation. LLC members may apply for their Certificate of Election to be Exempt on or after April 1 to be effective July 1, 2013.
• Certificate holders are required to print their Certificate of Election to be Exempt. To print your Certificate, click on the button below ("Click here to apply for or renew an exemption, to modify your application or to print your certificate"). If you are unable to print your Certificate, please contact the Division's Customer Service Office 850-413-1609.
• Out-of-state employers must contact the Division's Customer Service Office at (850) 413-1861 to apply for an exemption.

Note: Your computer must utilize Internet Explorer 8 or higher. Additionally, to print a Certificate of Election to be Exempt, you must first complete and submit a Notice of Election to be Exempt by utilizing the web-based system, and your computer must have:  1. Pop-up blockers turned off  2. Adobe Reader installed.
