Division of Workers' Compensation

Proof of Coverage EDI (non-medical)

Florida Department of Financial Services
Division of Workers' Compensation
September 19, 2005

This notification is a reminder of the Industry Code requirement that will take effect October 1, 2005, for Proof of Coverage EDI reporting to the Florida Division of Workers' Compensation. For all workers' compensation policies, binders, renewals that require an "Employer Transaction (PC2)", and Endorsements that add Florida Employers and/or locations to a policy (Triplicate Codes 00-31-72, 00-31-86, 00-31-54, & 00-31-87) with a Jurisdiction Designee/Division Received Date on or after October 1, 2005, the Industry Code is required and must be reported using the North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) Code (2002 version), in place of the SIC code.

On or after 10-1-05, if a policy is reported to the Division without a valid NAICS 2002 code, the policy will be rejected and the Insured will be reflected as having no coverage in the Division's database until the policy is resubmitted with a valid 2002 NAICS code.

Rule 69L-56 F.A.C. Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) Requirements For Proof of Coverage and Claims (Effective 5-29-05) and the FL POC EDI Implementation Manual-January 2005 (Pg. 6-6 or Pg 25 in Adobe) can be viewed on the Division's website at http://www.myfloridacfo.com/WC/
