1927 American LaFrance

FSFC 27 ALF

Purchased new by the City of Palm Beach in 1927, this American La France Model 100 series pumper was the state of the art.  It has a huge dual fired, six cylinder, 125 horsepower engine.  It could pump 1000 gallons of water each minute for long periods of time.

It was sold to the Reservation Volunteer Fire Department in the 1940s.  It remained in service for almost 35 more years before being retired from duty.

Donated in 1978 and restored to its present condition in 1988-89, this old pumper has been placed in the Fire College's Administration Building. It is on display today as part of the collection of fire fighting memorabilia at the Florida State Fire College.

Hose Cart

1800s Hose Cart

Donated to Florida State Fire College by the Ormond Beach Fire Department, this hand drawn hose cart is estimated to have been built in the mid 1800s.

It was used to bring hose to the scene of a fire.  The large wheels made it possible to be pulled by two (2) firefighters. After the hose arrived at the scene of the fire the men would then connect it to a hand pumper to put out the fire.
